TURNS YELLOW ON EXPOSURE TO AIR. PHYSICAL DANGERS: The vapour is heavier than air and may travel along the ground; distant ignition possible. CHEMICAL DANGERS: The substance may spontaneously ignite on contact with air. On combustion, forms toxic and/or flammable fumes including nitrogen oxides, hydrogen, ammonia, dimethylamine and hydrazoic acid. The substance is a strong reducing agent and reacts violently with oxidants like nitrogen tetroxide, hydrogen peroxide and nitric acid. The substance is a strong base, it reacts violently with acid and is corrosive. Reacts with oxygen causing fire and explosion hazard. Attacks plastic. OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs): TLV: 0.5 ppm; 1.2 mg/m3 (A2) (skin) (ACGIH 1991-1992). ROUTES OF EXPOSURE: The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation, through the skin and by ingestion.
